Here’s a taste of the broad range of student activities we encourage at Sunnyside.

We tailor our afterschool programs to give our students more time in a structured, collaborative environment that gives them exposure to a broader range of ideas that are covered in the basic curriculum.

We have a thriving group of student clubs, in areas ranging from oceanography (Aquarium Club) to Science (Astronomy Club) and even Yoga (Yoga Club). All clubs are led by teachers who volunteer to spend more time with the students to enable these activities.

We are also very proud of our after-school orchestra, which last year performed a Beethoven concerto in front of the Mayor and a State Senator!

Our Poetry Club is very popular, giving eager students a chance to explore their creative sides in a supportive environment that really encourages creativity. Our annual Haiku contest is a big hit with students, who stage their own reading at a general school assembly every spring.

Our Mission
Through a quality educational program which provides for individual differences and which motivates and challenges each student, both academically and socially, the school’s mission is to provide within each student the hope of realizing his or her individual dreams, a desire for learning and living, and a sense of gratitude and respect for others.

Future Star Baseball after school class is back!

This fall Future star baseball will be running its after school baseball classes with a new format. Our old flexible drop in class structure won’t work with Covid so we have a new plan. Class will run in 5 week sessions. We will be offering class everyday after school.  Class will run from 3:30 to 5:30 everyday at the FSB batting cages. Players can sign up for one, a few or all of the days of the week. Preference will be given to players who sign up for multiple days if we have too many players. In years past we have not had a player limit but with Covid and the kids in school we need to keep things a little more spaced out.

Players will play fun games as well as work on drills to improve all aspects of baseball. It’s like a condensed version of summer camp each day.

Covid protocols:

Players will wear masks at all times unless eating or drinking.
Players will get a temperature check when they arrive at class and hand sanitize.
Hand sanitization will take place at different intervals during class.
We will keep players spaced as much as possible but while playing games they will be within 3 feet of each other at some times.
Players with any covid like symptoms will need to stay home.

We will not be offering Covid refunds for days when class is cancelled. If there is a general shutdown of activities (back to tier system) full refunds will be given.

Email Ben at Benmangan@futurestarbaseball.com for the day or days you would like your child to attend.

5 week session starting the week of 9/13 running through the week of 10/11.
A second session will start the week if 10/18 and run through the week of 11/15

Ages 8-11.  Older and younger players are eligible but check in with Ben about enrollment.

Five days a week 750

If your are interested in having your child join class please email Ben at benmangan@futurestarbaseball.com and let him know the day or days you would like to register for.
