Here’s a taste of the broad range of student activities we encourage at Sunnyside.
We tailor our afterschool programs to give our students more time in a structured, collaborative environment that gives them exposure to a broader range of ideas that are covered in the basic curriculum.
We have a thriving group of student clubs, in areas ranging from oceanography (Aquarium Club) to Science (Astronomy Club) and even Yoga (Yoga Club). All clubs are led by teachers who volunteer to spend more time with the students to enable these activities.
We are also very proud of our after-school orchestra, which last year performed a Beethoven concerto in front of the Mayor and a State Senator!
Our Poetry Club is very popular, giving eager students a chance to explore their creative sides in a supportive environment that really encourages creativity. Our annual Haiku contest is a big hit with students, who stage their own reading at a general school assembly every spring.
Our Mission
Through a quality educational program which provides for individual differences and which motivates and challenges each student, both academically and socially, the school’s mission is to provide within each student the hope of realizing his or her individual dreams, a desire for learning and living, and a sense of gratitude and respect for others.
Last year's Haiku contest winner, by Lindsay Barlock:
The bird sings softly
Can my mother hear me when
I try to catch it?
Coach Ben and his staff are offering a variety of camps for fun and skill building in 2023. Players are rewarded for giving positive reinforcement to each other in both competitive and non-competitive games and drills. A team atmosphere is maintained at all times.

Drills allow a player to practice specific skills dozens of times (reps) in a short space of time. But not all kids want to focus so keenly. Some kids just want to play.. after all it's summertime!
This camp is oriented to playing mini-games that use baseball skill subsets, as well as full-fledged baseball games with pitchers, runners, and walks. These players love this. Get ready to hear about baseball Olympics, home run derby, etc. This camp is cleverly designed to work on player skills in non-drill formats. Ages 5-13*

FSB CAGES BASEBALL CAMP
This summer Future Star Baseball is blending all 4 of its fantastic camps into one. We’ve added a small play field above the cages so we will be able to take more kids at the cages as well as be able to keep pretty much all of the normal baseball camp activities this summer.
Although we won’t be able to play a kid pitch game the cages are a much better venue for working on hitting (3 70 foot tunnels along with a mini cage). Cages can be divided many different ways to create a huge number of hitting and drill stations. With the cages we will also be able to have a number of kids hitting and pitching to each other as well as catchers working on their skills. The best form of training is against other kids. With so many cages the players will get more opportunities to hit and pitch off other children than they would get at a full field camp. Ages 5-13*
There will be a 5 percent processing fee on all orders that the registration system takes.
Cancellation policy- You may cancel the camp up to two weeks ahead of time for a full refund, minus the processing fee paid to the registration system. You may switch to any open camp for no additional fees.
Covid Protocols- We don't know at this time. We will follow any state, county or CDC recommendations at the time the camp starts. Right now we just don't know what those regulations will be in the summer.
